I think that is the worst of turning 30 and what makes coming out of your 20's so difficult. You suddenly look back and go, I'm 30, did I accomplish anything I thought I would by 30? Did I accomplish as much as my parents accomplished by the time they were 30? Does this mean I have to be older? I remember a good friend saying once that you suddenly are taken more seriously when you turn 30. As if turning 30 makes you more creditable. Well that's not half bad...
So I did a look back and for the most part I did accomplish everything I hopped I would by the time I was 30. I had hopped to be more established in my work and have received at least one great promotion by now but seeing as that is not the case and I am still an administrative assistant (not due to lack of trying) it isn't a big enough deal to warrant putting myself in a drunken stupor, crying my birthday away to nostalgic movies and all that other depressing stuff I think people who turn 30 feel they should do. Come to think of it, I don't even think I got buzzed on my birthday.
The birthday get together was great and the perfect way to start another new decade.
